Why apps designed by AI look like apps designed by AI - and why skilled designers still matter

[00:00] I know that like Claude is like the big [00:02] name right now and Claude code and [00:04] whatever, but I think these things shift [00:05] over time, but they're like, "Have you [00:07] seen our front-end design skill?" That's [00:10] like a word right now. If you're [00:11] listening to this two hours from now, [00:12] skills probably won't even be a thing. [00:14] But that's their thing. And if you ask [00:16] it for a design, it'll be like accessing [00:18] our front-end design skill. Dude, I [00:21] promise you what comes out of that I [00:22] could smell a 100 miles away. It just [00:25] has this particular style that it [00:27] applies that I can just be like, "Yeah, [00:29] Claude did that. Is it relatively nice?" [00:32] Sure. But it's like even more. I can [00:34] smell it faster than I used to be able [00:36] to smell Bootstrap. You cannot launch a [00:39] big time app right now and have it look [00:43] exactly like that. It's not going to [00:44] stand out. It's not going to say what it [00:46] needs to say. It's going to say, "I had [00:48] an LLM do this." I think you need [00:51] skilled, talented people to make unique [00:54] things. I mean, in a way, web design is [00:57] art.
