Let's learn the basics of LLMs in less than 60 seconds. LMS are next word prediction machines. That's it. They guess what comes next. First, they train on the entire internet. Books, articles, code, conversations, trillions of words. Text gets split into tokens. Words or pieces of words. The model only sees numbers. The transformer architecture lets it look at all tokens at once. It learns which words relate to each other. When you type a prompt, it calculates probabilities. What's the most likely next word? It picks a word, adds it to the context, then predicts again, one token at a time until it's done. That's it. Training tokens, attention, and prediction. It's not thinking. It's pattern matching at an insane scale. and you just learned the basics of how LLM's
